Reindeer moss in nature is a light-colored, lichen moss but is most popular dyed. Common names include Reindeer moss and Caribou moss. As the common names suggest, Reindeer moss is eaten by reindeer (caribou). While it does grow in both cold and hot climates, it is primarily found in alpine tundra areas, as it is very cold-hardy.
